Grow Your Blog

I am so excited to be taking part in the “Grow your blog” event, squeezing an entry in at the last knockings!

Who am I?

I am a Mum, wife, housewife, team leader, christian, daughter, sister, aunty…. I live in Norwich UK with my family.

Why do I blog?

I started blogging 18 months ago due to advice to do so to drive traffic to my Etsy shop. Why do I blog now? because I LOVE it! Blogging gives me a great focus to creating and making. I blog twice a week, often with a focus on sewing and upcycling. Blogging has opened up a whole new world to me, internet friendships and finding some very inspiring fellow bloggers.

I enjoy playing with fabric, collected from rather too frequent visits to charity shops. Former garments appeal, I love the fact I am upcycling, the challenges it brings (a seam where you don’t want one, adapting your plans for what you are making as there is just not quite enough!) plus the cost enables me to play with ideas:)

Playing with creating my own designs, blogging, learning social media skills all stretch me, and help keep me sane!

here are some of my recent makes:)

Baking Tray Notice Board
Upcycled Magnetic Noticeboard

Quite Applique Baby Book
Fabric Baby Book

DIY Cushion Cover

  1. This is such a lovely idea, wish I’d heard about it before! Will have to take part next year 🙂 (btw am starting a new linky in 2 weeks I think you’ll like, am posting about it on Thursday but will tweet you as I think it might be your kinda thing 🙂 )

    • Sounds great Kate, look forward to reading about it – I somehow miss some of your blog posts (I need to follow you by e-mail rather than bloglovin, I seem to have found so many interesting blogs on bloglovin that I don’t get to read all the posts sent to me!)
In theory I am trying to keep a lit of projects to get involved in next year so I don’t miss them!

  2. Felt Jumper Hot Water Bottle Cover turned out nice…I need to upgrade mine too. I already follow on Bloglovin. Best wishes on the Grow Your Blog Tour. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com

  3. I’m really looking forward to this party. I’ve already seen a few blogs taking part which I follow now I’m waiting for the post with the list of all the blogs.

  4. Hi. This blog hop is interesting as I’m at a stage right now of considering quitting my blog. It gets virtually no comments; only from a couple of people who faithfully do comment and I love them for it. I’m going to continue on the hop and see if I can be persuaded to keep it up. I too have an Etsy shop but that’s not succeeding either. I think the Handmade Horizons academy is looking more and more necessary.

    • Hi Diane, I hope your journey of following the blog hop inspires you to keep going, if it’s the right thing for you:) I am doing the Handmade Horizons course, are you? Vicky

  5. Hi, Vicky!

I’m Terry. I am one of Vicki’s volunteers. I love your projects. I love the term “upcycling.” I have not heard that word before. I need to do more upcycling.

I hope you enjoy visiting all the wonderful blogs!

  6. So glad to meet you. I do allot of upcycling too-cotton shirts into quilts, wool into rug hooking and crazy quilt patches, and also silks and linen. Makes it fun to go shopping for me. I will be a new follower-I live in the woods in Missouri USA Kathy

  7. It is lovely to meet you on the blog party. I particularly like your tutorial section. When I started to sew nearly 2 years ago the first thing I made was a bag using EPP and I love trying out new patterns. Thank you for a lovely giveaway too.

    • Thanks Kay – your timing is perfect, I spent a frustrating couple of hours updating my tutorial page today!! It was long overdue:) Vicky

  8. Ooh, I’m glad I found your blog. I love rummaging in charity shops and have bought some great wool, buttons and fabric bargains over the years.

    • Thank you Una:) There’s nothing quite like a bargain – been to a jumble sale today, definitely can’t shut the storage cupboards now!! Three men’s wool jackets, and lots of shirts for quilting:)

  9. Hi. I am so happy to visit your blog. Thank you for coming along and visiting mine.
Dontcha love fabric of any kind? The idea that we can recycle and reuse is so important in this ‘throw away’ world. Thank you for sharing what you have made. It is all very lovely.

  10. Hi! Thanks again for stopping by nostalgiecat…have just been perusing your lovely blog…loving the bloghop idea! And love that you upcycle and reuse old fabrics in your makes! Very inspiring! And I love the bag! Have a great day!

  11. Hi Vicky
You put so eloquently why you blog and I so agree with all you say. I know the feeling of having a small grip on the global crafting community. I have to stop myself from ONLY blogging to save time for trawling charity shops.
    Go girl

  12. Good day Vicky! I saw your blog from reading Lisa Beauchamp’s earlier so I thought I’d stop by and say hello. Of course the giveaway is great (if I were to win it) but if not, none the less, I have a new blog to follow!!! It’s a win win. I hope your blog is very successful. Feel free to check mine out if you’d like. I’m also on other social media sites as well which you can link to via my blog. Take care, have fun, and enjoy!
