The beauty of this DIY wood wall art project is perfect for scraps of wood you have laying around. Our piece combines plywood, mahogany, pine and various other scraps of wood from our shed.
I love working with materials to hand – making the most of the resources we have to be creative. This piece of wood wall art is made only from materials found in the shed. You can make your scrap wood wall art any size you like.
Personally, I prefer the piece vertically. I have hung it on our dining room wall using command strips.

Cut a variety of pieces of wood each the same depth, using a table saw. Vary these in length. The pieces in this scrap wood wall art picture measure anywhere between 4 and 12″ long and are 1/2″ wide and deep.
Think about the colors of your wood, you can emphasize the plywood edges using oil and a cloth. We used olive oil! You can see the difference, the right-hand side has oil on.
Chalk paint is great for adding hints of colour, one of chalk paints main advantages is it can be applied with no prep.
Play around with the arrangement of your wood pieces, varying height, texture and color.
Once you are satisfied with your design apply wood glue to the sides and press together.
Clamp together and wipe any excess glue off. You may need to do this in sections then join the pieces together.
Now the tricky decision are you going to hang your wood wall art vertically or horizontally? We have used to hang the piece vertically.
