Remedy the lack of clock in the sewing room with a fun DIY Embroidery Hoop Clock. I love this upcycled clock, utilizing clock parts from a clock from a charity shop, using buttons from my stash. Its so quick and easy to make.
This is a fun project, how about whipping up some unique Button Clocks as gifts?
To make you will need:
Clock Parts
Embroidery hoop, wider than the clock handles to allow room for the buttons
Fabric
Thick interfacing
Buttons
Taylors Chalk
Scissors
Needle & Thread
To make:
Using your embroidery hoop as a guide draw roughly draw a round circle on your fabric approximately 2 cm wider
Cut out your fabric
Fold your fabric into quarters and mark on the back the centre of the circle
Use the inside hoop to mark out the inner circle dimensions on your interfacing. Cut out and iron on the wrong side.
Place your fabric in the hoop, stretch taught.
Mark out your placement of buttons, sew on.
Cut a small hole in the centre of the clock face and insert clock parts ( I sprayed my upcycled clock parts white first)
Insert clock mechanism, glue into place using a strong adhesive
Trim fabric, if wished.
Display:)
I am delighted to have transformed my clock part from this to this!
You can easily ring the changes, how about some denim fabric and bright coloured different buttons??

I love this - I made one for my daughter for Christmas last year along with a matching fabric hoop to hold some of her sewing implements (seem ripper, measuring tape, scissors, etc.). I found delightful flower shaped buttons. She absolutely loved the set - she has a small sewing corner and they fit nicely.

This is a brilliant idea.a great way to show off some of my favorite buttons. I can even see this with themed buttons. So cute! I am going to try it this weekend. Thanks!

I wouldn't of thought of doing the clock with fabric, it looks great. I like the different sized buttons you've chosen, it's very effective :) Jan x

That's really great - I would never have thought that an old clock could be cannibalised like that into another working item!
