Pattern Parcel 7#

Not heard of pattern parcel before?

How Pattern Parcel Works:
Here at Perfect Pattern Parcel, we believe in supporting independent pattern designers. It’s our opinion that indie patterns are just, well, better than big box patterns, and we’re pretty sure our customers think so too.

So, we allow customers to show their support in naming their own price for each Parcel.

We also encourage customers to allocate part of their Parcel price to the charity Donorschoose.org in order to help classrooms in need.

Pattern Parcel donates all profits after expenses from Parcel sales to the charity as well.

Its our goal to raise over $20,000 for Donors Choose this year

Pattern Parcel #7: Choose your own price and support DonorsChoose. Win/win!
Let’s have a quick look inside this Parcel: there are 5 bags (plus a bonus 6th one):

Barcelona Bag and Wallet by Pat Bravo
Butterfly Sling Purse by Emmaline Patterns
Evelyn Hangbag by ChrisW Designs
Midtown Messenger Bag by Betz White
Betty Bowler by Swoon Sewing Patterns
BONUS PATTERN: Daphne Bag by Clover & Violet

This is a great selection a bags, a perfect bag for every occasion. Treat yourself or a friend to some new patterns, great timing for the christmas season.

Bonus Pattern:

Choose a price of $32 or greater for Parcel #6 and you will automatically also be sent the Bonus Pattern! That’s only $5 a pattern. The Bonus Pattern for this Parcel is the brand new Daphne Bag pattern from Clover & Violet. The Daphne is a slouchy satchel that can be worn cross body or as a shoulder bag. The zip top keeps your gear secure and the internal pockets keep your accessories where you need them. This is a brand new, never been seen before pattern and is an exclusive opportunity for Parcel #7 customers!

I have chosen to make Midtown Messenger Bag by Betz White. This is the first time I have sewn a Betz White design, I was not disappointed. There are clear directions, with step by step diagrams.

zipper closure

Another first was sewing a zipper closure and turned the lining/main bag to the correct side out, but I need not to have worried, it worked:)

My fabric choices were a cotton patterned skirt, former curtain as accent fabric, and a fabric remnant for lining. I love the fact the pattern encourages readers to think about upcycling fabrics:) I struggled to buy the hardware locally, so ended up at the local charity shop yesterday in order to buy an old bag for the hardware for the strap.

The vibrant colours are great fun.

The bag has an internal padded pocket designed to hold and protect tablets, an external pocket perfect for an A4 notebook and two slip pockets at the front – what’s not to like?

I’m planning on making the Barcelona Bag next.

Why not treat yourself to some new patterns?

I love your bag. Very clever to use a second handbag for the fittings and handles. I’m tempted to try making a bag myself #handmadeMonday
