This week I have felt inspired to join in Lola Novas’s “Stitched Journal Project” link party.
It is a long time ago since I completed a HND in Craft at my local art college, the course contained lots of tasters of various crafts including embroidery. I suspect I have not experimented in stitching since then.
I collected a pile of materials, and had an experiment whilst the kids played in the garden (it’s been lovely weather this week).
I enjoyed playing with threads and stitches.
Sadly I am not as free at mark making as my tot,. it’s a shame that as adults we can become more inhibited when experimenting.
I hope you have had a creative week, as usual I am popping over to Handmade Harbour to see what everyone else has been up to this week,

I love the comparison of the freedom of a child. We seem to afraid to fail as adults that it restricts our experimentation. And you definitely put heed to that! I love the colours and textures.

Wow, I haven't heard about the stitched journal project before and it sounds like a great idea to have a project that is small enough to finish but has a meaning to it. I like the textures and colours in your project. I did GCSE textiles which included lots of different techniques and would like to pick some of them up again at some point. I'm going to watch this project and when I find some my material maybe I'll join in.

Wow i have just seen your site for the first time. Love it! Going for a good look around now. I wish i was creative and artistic. We popped along to our recycled craft store the other day and sadly it had closed down. I was really looking forward to making some home made wedding invites!

I love the textures and colours you have included, and I love that it is just creative and fun. I have a big bag of scraps, I really must get back in the habit of playing with them!
