I am delighted to introduce to you the Rhine Valley Bag.

Rhine Valley bag – Charmed Liebling Pattern

Having just finished testing the pattern for Anna over at Charmed Liebling I am chuffed with the finished bag, complete with two external pockets, two internal pockets and zipper closure. As usual the pattern was well written, and easy to follow step by step.

One of the pleasures of pattern testing is learning new skills and techniques, in this instance learning how to create a zip closure.

The finished size of this bag is 30 x 45 x 10 cm/ 12 x 18 x 4 in (height x width x depth).

As a Christmas special I am joining in with SewMamaSew giveaway day. Please do share the giveaway and enter, and why not pop by SewMamaSew and find some other wonderful handmade items being given away:)

If you are popping by my blog for the first time please do take a look around. I blog about my creative journey, often with a focus on recycling, and/or bags:) Thanks for stopping by:)

  1. I love the fabric in that bag, it looks amazing. My favourite bags are spacious and with lots of pockets as I always end up carrying so much stuff with me. I also tend to prefer cross body straps as I find them easier to wear. Messenger style bags are the ones I own most of.

  8. my favourite bag is huge … and with rounded edges, and has a broad bottom and at least 2 big compartments and it needs 1 zipper pocket (for the valuables) and a bigger pocket inside for the other small stuff (pens, hankerchiefs etc… and hmmm it needs a broad adjustable strap and I would love if it was possible to turn it into a backpack … and if I can go all out and dreamy, maybe some attachment to fix it to the bicycle and whily we are at it can it be water proof?

  9. Thank you so much for such a wonderful giveaway!

My favourite bag is big enough that my sketchbook and pencil case fit inside along with what seems to be a tonne of other things; like my umbrella, little cosmetics bag and a hand towel, a chocolate bar, copious amounts of tissues, camera and essentials like my keys and purse. In addition to fitting the mountain of stuff I always lug around, it’s also comfy to carry and matches all of my clothes nicely. πŸ™‚

  13. I made a very simple quilted tote bag for a friend last year that was equilateral triangle patchwork and I was really pleased with how that one turned out. I haven’t made any complicated bags — this one looks beautiful, and I love the primary fabric you used.

  14. My favorite bag was a canvas tote that used to be large enough to carry my music and a bunch of other stuff, but once I washed it, it shrunk and is now almost half the size it originally was. What I liked about it was its original size and on the outside it said, “Plays well with others.” It was a gift from my SIL.

  22. My favourite bag was a kind of hobo style sling bag from India, but I used it until the lining popped its seams and … I don’t know, as much sewing as I do, I never seem to contemplate repairing things (also, how do you sew rayon-type material? do I need a special needle… probably… but I just don’t know) so I got rid of it.

My ideal bag has to be well-made… no ripping seams, no loose threads, with high-quality and durable fabrics. Bright colors, funky prints and reclaimed fabrics are the icing on the cake. πŸ™‚

  43. My favorite bag is khaki color. It has two pockets on the front, with zippers. To get to the main pocket, you have to open the zipper (very important for me). It has handles and also a long strap. I love it a lot but one day I spilled something on it that just ruined it and I had to let it go!

I like bags that aren’t too big (so I can’t stuff it with loads of things and then not be able to lift it!) and that have a few pockets to keep medication, etc. nice and safe.

  58. What a gorgeous bag! I have two favourite bags… the first is my hiking backpack, probably the most expensive ‘bag’ I own, the next is the red handbag I bought in Florence. πŸ™‚ I have a stash of old jeans from people, you’ve given me some ideas. I love your Tooth Fairy Castle, and the wrapping ideas. My family stopped using a lot of wrapping paper years ago, and started using Japanese furoshiki or lovely handkerchiefs. Any lovely paper that is used is careful taken off the gift, and stashed away…
Thanks so much for the chance!
