Refashioned t-shirt dresses

A recent conversation with my sister-in-law left me with the thought my gorgeous niece could do with some additions to her wardrobe.

I have recently attempted a tidy of my craft room, this led me to the conclusion I could ideally do with using some of my stash waiting to be upcycled (someone advised me cupboard doors are meant to shut?!)  The solution? Make said gorgeous niece (OK I know I’m biased but she really is!) some t-shirt dresses.

I returned to the Pheasant dress free pattern which I had used to make her a dress from former shirts. Using three t-shirts I have created two knit dresses. I chose simple colour combinations with a touch of decoration.

T shirts waiting to be upcycled

Naturally I utilized the hems of the t-shirts for the skirt and sleeves. Carefully placing pattern pieces meant I was able to avoid the odd stains on the original t shirts:)

Key moment – whether to add a pocket before finishing the neckline or not? My sister-in-law voted in favour of the pocket ” she can keep her raisins in there”!!!

T shirt dress, with flower button detail

Personally I love the lilac dress with button flower. I used a tutorial for the flower -the template a base of a drinking glass for cutting out the Liberty fabric scraps.

I have kept the top of the navy tshirt and long sleeves with an idea to remodel it for me.  I’m loving have baby girl to sew for:)

PS the cupboard doors shutting remain a work in progress

They are really pretty. I've also heard the rumour that drawers are supposed to close too - surely that can't be right ;)
