Fabric waste… upcycling, recycling, reusing

I thought I would share with you the I phone cover and makeup bag I have made with fabric left over from the red jacket shoulder bag.. A new design of recycled bag:)

Continuing with thoughts about waste and textiles from my previous post I like the fact I am using more of the jacket which is being upcycled. However I remain with quite a bit of fabric waste, scraps of fabric which at the moment head for the bin.

What do you do with fabric scraps?? I read of someone who keeps all pieces over 10 pence piece to re-use for applique or people who use fabric waste for cushion stuffing.

Neither of these solutions quite suit me.. very delighted to hear of any suggestions as an alternative to the bin.

I don’t sew so don’t have fabric scraps but I do have mini-mountains of yarn scraps which are all kept together in a box so that one day I will find projects to use them up – the pile continues to grow though as I never get round to putting my plans into action – note to self, try to improve on that in 2013! Love these 2 items.

Great idea Vicky. I’ve got a pile of scraps at home and I also need a phone cover. I reckon they are quite straightforward to make. They sell for up to £20 in Monsoon so I could save quite a bit of money too.
