Dress a Girl Around the World

Have you made a pillowcase dress yet for this project?? The lovely Louise of Sew Scrumptious is the co-ordinator in the UK, this is what she says about the project:

“People who could sew were asked to make simple pillowcase dresses which were then delivered to girls living in poverty in the developing world. Girls in countries like Uganda, Rwanda, Haiti and India. The charity felt that every girl should own at least one pretty dress.”

It’s been on my to do list for some time (longer than I care to admit!). There are some great instructions here if you fancy a go yourself:)

I rashly invited people via Facebook to come and make one in an evening – a perfect chance to encourage  people to gain confidence in their sewing skills, get to know each other, and enjoy making an item for someone else:)

The dress is a little plain, but I am pleased with the result. I may jazz it up a little and dip back into a former post for some fabric flower tutorials🙂

When I finally came to making the dress I found it extremely quick and easy. Great news:) This means I have no excuse to find a date to have people round to make one themselves! Plus I can create dresses for my daughter for next summer:)

One day, (soon I hope!) I will share with you the results of a girly sewing evening:)
