Kids clothes week – Skipping Skirt

If you are looking for the Grow Your Blog post it is here.

Introducing this weeks Quick Mid Week Upcycled Make, upcycled patchwork skirt.

This week I have been determined to take part in Kids Clothes Week, committing to sewing for my children an hour a day for the week.

I found an inspiring pattern “Skipping Skirt”  in Simple Sewing by Lola Nova  which I knew my daughter would love – aren’t library wonderful resources:)

She is  a bright softly draping fabric girl at heart, but I had an inkling this pattern would entice her into crisp cotton.

I selected a variety of fabrics from my stash, including remnants and fabrics from former skirts and shirts. This is great as it uses up many smaller pieces. Fourteen pieces later I pieced randomly. The skirt is finished with bias binding on the hem, and an elasticated waist band.

The materials were from my stash, only having to buy the bias binding for less than a £1, a bargain!!

Next on my list is to sew a dress out of knit fabric, I suspect I have chosen a tricky pattern as it involves inserting a zip!

That is fantastic, and I love that it cost next to nothing and is recycling old bits of fabric :-) #blogclub

I love your version of this, just gorgeous! I always like to hear that formerly loved fabrics are getting new life! You actually inspired me to make a new version for my daughter who has been growing like a weed.

I love this skirt, really doesn't look like it's made of remnants, at all! It's better if I hide it from My LilPotato, or I know what will be my next project... and I have so many to-dos in my list!! Thanks for linking up at Anything Goes Monday, exceptionally hosted on my blog!
